Borrowing Policies for Partner Libraries and Consortia
Many libraries in the Gettysburg and Philadelphia areas allow ULS students to check out materials. A currently valid ULS ID card and a letter of introduction from either the Wentz or Krauth Branch staff must be presented as evidence of affiliation with the seminary. Remember that you must abide by the rules and regulations of these facilities and that you represent ULS when visiting.
Philadelphia-Area Libraries
South Eastern Pennsylvania Theological Libraries SEPTLA Institutions are open to students and faculty of United Lutheran Seminary. Among SEPTLA institutions are St. Charles Borromeo Seminary, Westminster Theological Seminary, and Palmer Theological Seminary. In all cases, a current, valid ID card from ULS and a Visiting Patron form--the latter being available at each circulation desk--must be presented each time you visit a member library.  Please note that we must abide by the individual consortium library's rules and procedures, and that all borrowed materials must be returned directly to the lending library (not through drop-off at Wentz or Krauth). The Visiting Patron form must be updated and presented new each semester. See the full list of member libraries here.

ULS students and faculty have privileges in the libraries of all member seminaries in the Washington Theological Consortium . The Free Library of Philadelphia will issue library cards to students during their time in Philadelphia. There are two branches convenient to the Philadelphia campus, as well as many other scattered around the city. The central branch is an excellent research library.
Gettysburg-Area Libraries
The Musselman Library at Gettysburg College, within walking distance in the borough of Gettysburg, may be used by Seminary students, faculty and staff.  Musselman Library has its own rules for the use of its collection, including the amount and prompt payment of overdue fines.
 
The Phillips Library at Mount St. Mary's University and Seminary in nearby Emmitsburg, Maryland (8 miles south on Route 15) is also open for ULS students and faculty to use and borrow from.

The Adams County Library System will issue library cards to students during their time in Gettysburg. Use of the branch in downtown Gettysburg provides access to children's literature, light fiction, "how-to" books, and other usual public library services.
